PRIVACY
Your data is yours.
Rails Academy is an independent project built to help people learn how to create and own software. That philosophy extends to how your information is treated.
What we collect
We try to collect as little information as possible.
When you create an account, Rails Academy stores the information needed to operate your account, such as your email address, encrypted password information, course progress, and membership status.
Payments
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe.
Rails Academy does not need to store your full credit card number. Stripe processes payment information according to its own privacy and security practices.
We don't sell your data
Your personal information is not for sale.
Rails Academy does not sell your personal information to advertisers, data brokers, or other companies.
Why we use your information
Information is used to run Rails Academy: maintaining your account, remembering your course progress, managing your membership, providing support, protecting the service, and improving the learning experience.
Service providers
A small number of outside services may be used when they are necessary to operate Rails Academy, such as Stripe for payments, infrastructure providers for hosting and delivery, and video providers for course content.
The goal is to keep this list small and use services because they help operate the product, not because your information is a product.
Data integrity
I care deeply about keeping your information accurate, secure, and limited to what Rails Academy actually needs.
No internet service can promise perfect security, but the application is built with the intention of collecting less data rather than finding more reasons to collect it.
Your account
If you have a question about your information or want to request the deletion of your account and associated personal information, contact me using the email at the bottom of this page.
Changes
If this policy materially changes as Rails Academy grows, this page will be updated.
